I love keeping around a couple natural-colored canvas tote bags because they are inexpensive, useful, and the diy possibilities are endless. Since I also happen to keep around drawers full of ribbon, I decided to use some of them to fancy up one of my bags. You can use any ribbon or trim, sold by the yard at craft stores (mine are from m&j trim), affixing each strip with a coat of glue. I used 1 1/2 inch thick ribbons in fuschia, tangerine, and royal purple, also incorporating two strips of stretchy gold sequin trim. I absolutely love how the gold looks mixed in with these colors and I think it creates a nice contrast with the canvas. Follow along for a step-by-step.

+Iron, tape measure, pencil, glue, fabric scissors
Step-by-step:
Step 1. Start with a natural color canvas tote (can be found in most craft stores)
Step 2. Gather some colorful trims and ribbons of your liking
Step 3. I chose ribbons in fuschia, royal purple, and tangerine, and stretchy gold sequin trim.
Step 4. Assemble your additional supplies: iron, tape measure, glue, and fabric scissors.
Step 5. Iron the bag to smooth it out (optional)
Step 6. Find the mid-point of your bag using a tape measure and mark this spot with a pencil.
Step 7. Start gluing your center ribbon using e-6000 glue (which has great hold) or a glue gun.
Step 8. Then start gluing each of the outer ribbons down on either side of the middle ribbon.
Step 9. Allow for them to dry for a couple minutes.
Step 10. Ta-da :)
